The work 'Hellter fucking skelter' consists of a series of collages made of hand woven oriental carpets. Slogans such as 'The year was no chance', 'Permission to fire', 'Identity complex identity', and 'You have no idea of faith', are applied onto the carpets. In the collage the pattern of the letters and the patterns of the carpet overlap and lose clearness within the inter-weaving. Still one might read the slogans as hidden political statements from the area of the crisis-shaken Middle East. The slogans however date from a completely different context: they are taken from quilt-like textile works of artist Tracey Emin and describe very personal states of mind of the British artist. The mechanical production of the collaged carpets, away from manual labor, and the usage of another artist's statements blur personal characteristics in the work. Applied to a different context, they question associative patterns and expectations of the viewer as well as the cultural characteristics of material.
