The work “Replays/Replace” consists of nine video clips that were screened between individual broadcastings on the Austrian channel ORF III in April 2013. In their well- known studio settings, ORF presenters (all familiar to the large public) read out Lucio Fontana’s artistic manifest from 1952 that describes television as a tool of renewing art.
No recordings exist of the original screening by Lucio Fontana, which was read out on Italian television in the fifties.
Now, 60 years later the work “Replays/Replace” creates/re-creates a contemporary mise-en-scene.
